The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing transparency within the telecommunications sector, aiming to foster better communication between the regulator and industry stakeholders.

The Director, Public Affairs of the Commission, Reuben Muoka stated this during  a two-day upskilling on the telecoms industry in Nigeria for select media stakeholders in Lagos

Muoka emphasised that transparency is a core value of the NCC, stating, “We want to be as transparent as possible. When there’s transparency, it benefits not only the regulator but also the industry and the media.”

He highlighted the role of the media as essential partners in bridging the information gap between the NCC and key stakeholders in the telecommunications industry.

“We bridge the gap between the regulator and the key stakeholders. We are dependent on you to enable that transparency”, he said.

Speaking on Wednesday at the ongoing programme designed to keep participants informed about current trends, regulatory developments, challenges, and opportunities within Nigeria’s telecom sector, Muoka reiterated that the NCC values its partnership with the media in promoting transparency and accountability.

He noted that these efforts are crucial for building trust and ensuring that consumers are well-informed about their rights and services available to them.
