The Police Command in Lagos State has began full enforcement of laws regulating the use of tinted glass on vehicles across the state.

The command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi announced this in a statement in Lagos.

According to her, the exercise, which began on Thursday is in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, and aims to boost public safety, curb crime, and ensure compliance with traffic laws.

“Motorists with tinted glasses are required to obtain an approved permit via www.possap.gov.ng. vehicle owners unwilling to process the permit.

“Vehicle owners who are yet to register are strongly advised to obtain the approved tinted glass permit at www.possap.gov.ng.

“Those who are not desirous of obtaining the tinted glass permit are advised to remove such tints or replace the factory-fitted glasses with transparent ones, as legally provided by the Motor Vehicles ( Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act 2004.

“Vehicles with tinted glasses without the permit will be impounded, and offenders will be prosecuted.

“While the command continues to enforce general traffic and safety regulations, motorists are advised to always carry their essential documents and to cooperate with officers during lawful stop-and-search operations,” she said.

The image maker said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, warned officers to conduct the exercise professionally, free from harassment or extortion, stressing that offenders and their supervisors would face sanctions.

While appealing for public cooperation, the spokesperson reassured residents that the enforcement exercise was not designed to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to strengthen overall security.

Adebisi also encouraged the public to report cases of misconduct through its Complaint Response Unit (CRU), with hotlines and social media platforms provided for prompt redress.

“For complaints or reports of unprofessional conduct, members of the public are encouraged to contact the command CRU 📞 09111111150, 09111991116, 08090277712, 08090277714, 08090277713, or 08090277711.
