The Delta House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the state payment of 13th Month Salary Bill, 2026 for workers in the state.

The passage followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privileges, presented by its Chairman, Mr. Edafe Emakpor.

The bill provides for the payment of basic salary and fixed monthly allowances, excluding salary arrears, overtime and others.

The Speaker, Mr. Dennis Guwor, said that the passage demonstrated the house’s commitment to the security and welfare of the people, particularly workers in the state.

“By the passage of this bill, we have demonstrated indeed that the primary purpose of congress is the security and welfare of the people.

“This historic action underscores our governor as a welfare and worker-friendly Governor.

“I sincerely hope it will boost the morale and enhance productivity of civil servants in the state,” he said.

Guwor also commended the state Governor. Sheriff Oborevwori for initiating the welfare policy aimed at supporting hardworking public servants across the state.

“On behalf of the entire House, I convey our appreciation to the governor of the state, Sheriff Oborevwori, for initiating this welfare policy for our hard-working public servants,” he said.

The speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the house resolution to the governor for necessary action.

Earlier, the Leader of the House, Dr. Emeka Nwaobi, moved a motion for the bill to scale through third reading and the House unanimously passed the bill. (NAN)
