Chinese gold medallists

The first gold medals of Paris 2024 have gone to Huang and Sheng  of the Republic of China after they won their match 16-12 over Keum and Park of the Rep. of Korea. China now has 2 gold medals to leap to the top of the medal tables among the 207 nations competing for honours at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

China with two gold medals from diving and shooting is closely followed by the United States, Great Britain, Korea Republic and Kazakhstan with one gold each hours after a colourful opening ceremony Friday night.

These five nations are the first to ever win a medal at the ongoing Olympics said to have won many hearts for its uniquely spectacular opening ceremony held not inside a stadium but on water, a dream conceived and achieved by the French authorities.

Winning 2 gold medals on the 1st day, one in 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event and another in 3m Synchronised Springboard (diving), China is looking to dominate the games and sweep as many medals as there are to compete for.
