Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested four suspects for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, announced the arrests in a statement on Monday on behalf of the State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan-Agalama.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Abdullahi (35), Rabiu Baffa (25), Aminu Lawan (35), and Ibrahim Idris (33) were apprehended in Gaida, Kumbotso LGA, by officers of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) based in Dorayi Babba, Gwale LGA.

According to Hassan-Agalama, the targeted operation followed credible intelligence and forms part of the command’s ongoing efforts to curb the illegal distribution and abuse of controlled substances across the state.

Items recovered during the raid include:

Pregabalin (PG): Four sachets of 300mg capsules.

Diazepam (“Fara”): Dozens of tablets.

Inhalants (“Sholisho”): Three tubes of Oshin Solution.

Cannabis: Three large packs and 20 individual parcels of suspected marijuana.

Cautioning the public on the dangerous trend, Hassan-Agalama urged youths to avoid illicit drug activities, noting that substance abuse poses a grave threat to community safety and social stability.

The NSCDC confirmed that all four suspects, along with the seized exhibits, will be transferred to the Kano Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for detailed investigation and prosecution. Hassan-Agalama reassured residents that information shared with the corps regarding illegal drug networks will remain strictly confidential.
