The Lagos State Government has commenced the removal of illegal squatters and shanties along the Orile–Okokomaiko section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The development was disclosed in a repost by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, Mr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, on X  on Monday.

According to the repost, the operation is being carried out by a joint enforcement team to restore order along the busy transport corridor.

It stated that the exercise targets makeshift structures erected on the expressway median and other unauthorised locations.

The enforcement team is also clearing the affected areas to improve public safety, environmental sanitation and the free flow of traffic.

According to the repost, the exercise reflects the state government’s commitment to maintaining environmental standards and public order across Lagos.

The operation was ongoing at the time of filing this report.
