KONGA YAKATA EXCEEDS SALES PROJECTION AS PRICES CRASH FURTHER

Konga Yakata

Barely 48 hours after it debuted on November 8, the Black Friday of Konga dubbed Konga Yakata has exceeded sales projection with shoppers, both online and offline making the most of the moment.

Offline shoppers who thronged the Computer Village, Ikeja Experience Store of Konga said they are having the best shopping experience of their lives.

“The good thing about this is that you could all you ever wanted in one Konga store from good wine to electronics and mobile. I got here and I was able to pick a few office equipment consumables and choice wines and that does it for me,” gushed Mr. Tunde Odunfa, a shopper.

Konga officials told our reporter that the rush was heavy but they were able to cope with demand and logistics as they were fully prepared for the experience expected to last till the end of this month.

Konga, Nigeria’s e-commerce giant has been recording massive rush for its Black Friday sales tagged Konga Yakata which kicked off on Thursday November 8th, as eager shoppers thronged the company’s online and offline platforms to be the first to take advantage of the price slashes and huge deals that greeted the commencement of the mega shopping fiesta.

Konga Yakata, widely regarded as the biggest shopping event of the year, is a month-long campaign which runs every day from Thursday November 8th to Friday November 30th 2018.

Feelers from within the company indicated that traffic to the website Konga.com began to record a steady spike from the early hours of Thursday as thousands of early bird shoppers kick-started the hunt for bargain deals. Calls to the Konga customer care lines and other feedback channels also increased exponentially as a result of the increased traffic recorded on the website.

Further spicing up the Konga Yakata offer is a series of exciting attractions including periodic flash sales, treasure hunts and other freebies for shoppers.

Konga’s network of retail stores nationwide also reported heavy traffic and footfalls for the commencement of Konga Yakata, as many shoppers sought to avoid the massive rush online by carrying out their Black Friday shopping in the nearest Konga store.

In Abuja, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Owerri and other locations, reports show that shoppers thronged Konga stores early on Thursday to see the items and price slashes on offer, with cash payment ranking as the most preferred means of payment. Interestingly, many in-store shoppers also chose to place to place orders online for delivery of their items after concluding their selection.

The case was hardly different in Lagos where Konga stores in Surulere, Ikeja, Admiralty, Yaba, Trade Fair, Ikoyi, Ikorodu and Gbagada, among others, experienced increased human traffic from shoppers keen to be among the earliest to get their hands on the products and offers available.

For the first time since it instituted the annual Yakata sales as arguably the most anticipated event in the shopping calendar, Konga has added a new dimension with its network of retail stores also affording shoppers an opportunity to take part in the month-long sales.

In addition, the stores also provide a useful outlet for millions of unreached and under-served Nigerians in up-country locations who cannot partake in online shopping to experience the Konga Yakata sales.

The month-long shopping extravaganza will come to an end on Friday November 30th 2018.
