The Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, Kano, Professor Balarabe A, Jakada, Majidadin Kauran Katsina, paid a courtesy call to the President and CEO of the Digital Bridge Institute Professor Mohammed Ajiya at the Digital Bridge Institute Headquarters, Abuja Nigeria on Thursday 9th November 2023.

At the visit, Professor Jakada discussed the need for strengthening the relationship between the Digital Bridge Institute and tertiary Institutes in Nigeria, especially in helping them build capacity in several domains of ICT. He was particularly effusive about the impact of the Advance Digital Empowerment Programme for Tertiary Institute (ADEPTI). He stated that Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies; one of the beneficiary Institutions of the ADEPTI program has witnessed significant transformation since the hosting of the program. He stated that the program has helped to leapfrog the adoption and implementation of ICT in learning and teaching in the Institution. He said that the training deepened the understanding of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college on the use of ICT tools in teaching and administration, deployment of ICT in the classroom and for e-learning, applications of emerging technologies in education and replacement of traditional ways of teaching and learning with modern, computer-based processes.
He further thanked the Nigerian Communications Commission for approving that Institutions such as theirs participate in the ADEPTI scheme and that the ADEPTI program is a unique program and the only program targeted at upskilling Staff of Colleges of Education in ICT usage. He then appealed that they be included among the beneficiary Institutions in subsequent years in the ADEPTI program
In his response, the President and CEO of DBI assured Professor Jakada, that DBI is committed to delivering quality ICT training to tertiary Institutions in Nigeria and that its focus is to help staff of tertiary Institutions build the required capacity and competence to deploy ICT in their teaching, learning and research responsibilities. He assured Professor Jakada that as long as the Nigerian Communications Commission gives DBI the necessary funding and support, Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, and other specialized Institutions would remain beneficiaries of the ADEPTI project.
