WAEC releases WASSCE results, withholds 214,952

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the results of the 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE.

According to WAEC, out of 1,567,026 that registered, 1,559,162 candidates sat for the examination. WAEC said that 214,952 candidates have their results withheld for alleged exam malpractice.

The breakdown shows that 923,486 candidates, representing 59.22% obtained minimum of five credits in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Also, 1,084,214 candidates, representing 69.54% obtained credits and above in six subjects.

Furthermore, 1,243,772 candidates, representing 79.77% obtained credits and above in five subjects while 1,357,193 candidates, representing 87.05% obtained credits and above in four subjects.

It said the reported cases of malpractices  are being investigated and reports of the will be presented to the NEC in due course for consideration.

WAEC assured the concerned candidates that they would be informed of the committee’s decisions.

The total number of candidates that sat for the examination were 829,853 male and 729,309 female representing 53.2% and 46.2% respectively.
