Tribunal Sacks Kashamu, Six Others in Ogun, Orders Rerun

Admin October 9, 2015

Prince-Buruji-KashamuThe election of Senator Buruji Kashamu as senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District has been annulled by the election Petition Tribunal in Ogun State which ordered a rerun within 90-days.

The tribunal Friday also annulled the election of Honourable Adekoya Adesegun, a member of House of Representatives from Ijebu East /Ijebu North /Ogun waterside, as well as five others in the state House of Assembly over irregularities in their elections.

The verdict of the tribunal has drawn mixed reactions in the state. Kashamu has been in the news lately over matters bordering on drug deals for which the NDLEA tried but failed to enforce his extradition to the United States to answer to charges of illicit drug dealings.

Buruji Kashamu, also known as Esan Jinadu has been a frontline socialite and staunch member of the PDP in Ogun State with strong influence in the South West. He has been involved in altercations with prominent politicians from the South West zone including former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
