TotalEnergies and its Nigerian partner AMNI have taken a final investment decision to develop the offshore Ima gas field in Nigeria, which will supply a Nigeria LNG liquefaction plant, the French oil major said on Wednesday.
The field is expected to begin production in 2028 and reach plateau output of 350 million cubic feet of gas per day, equivalent to more than 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
TotalEnergies said gas from Ima, located on OML 112 and 117 near Bonny Island, would be transported by pipeline to Nigeria LNG and provide about one-third of the gas needed for the Train 7 expansion project.
The expansion is expected to raise liquefaction capacity to 30 million metric tons per year from 22 million tons currently.
The project marks a further step in its integrated gas strategy in Nigeria by adding low-cost gas resources.
