Lakurawa terror group
Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have launched a deadly attack on a construction site along the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway project in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing three persons and injuring two others.
The deceased include two security personnel and an expatriate worker attached to the road project, while two civilians sustained gunshot wounds.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Kebbi State Command, SP Bashir Usman, stated that the attack occurred near Gubba village in the Andarai District of Maiyama.
According to the police spokesperson, the armed assailants allegedly crossed over from the Kebbe axis in neighboring Sokoto State before opening fire on workers at the construction site.
In a related development, SP Usman disclosed that a separate attempt by the group to launch an attack along the Birnin Malam axis on the same day was successfully repelled by police teams.
Joint security forces responded swiftly to the incidents, with tactical teams deployed across the region to reinforce security and forestall further breaches. During the counter-operations, military forces neutralised scores of the attackers and recovered several operational motorcycles.
Following the assault, construction activities at the site have been temporarily halted while security agencies step up surveillance and deploy additional operational assets to the area.
Assuring workers on the highway project of their safety, the police spokesperson urged members of the public and construction personnel to remain calm, emphasizing the commitment of security agencies to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
