The Supreme Court declares Mrs Dorathy Mato winner of the APC party ticket for Vandikwa/ Konshisha federal constituency of Benue state thus terminating the tenure of Herman Hembe. The apex court also ordered Hembe to return all salaries and benefits collected while in office within 90 days.
The apex court on Friday, June 23, ruled that Herman Hembe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) be replaced by Mrs Dorathy Mato which it declared as the rightful winner of the APC party ticket for Vandikwa/ Konshisha federal constituency of Benue state. Hembe has been controversial in the House with the celebrated case of the House against Security and Exchange Commission in which he was alleged to have collected money from SEC for overseas trip. He was also in the thick of the storm surrounding the Centenary Village in which he had a heated debate with former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.
The Supreme Court also on Friday, sacked the Senator representing Taraba North in the Senate, Abubakar Danladi and asked him to return all salaries he had collected till date..
Danladi was ordered to refund all salaries and allowances he received within 90 days.
The court also declared Alhaji Shuaibu Isa Lau, as the senator to represent the constituency.
Both Danladi and Isa Lau are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The Supreme Court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate issued to Danladi and issue a fresh certificate of return to Lau.
