Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, other ADC chieftains lead Save Democracy protest in Abuja

ADC chiefs protest in Abuja

Top members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, David Mark  on Wednesday in Abuja joined supporters at the “Save Democracy” protest held at Maitama Roundabout in the Federal Capital Territory.

Obi had announced the protest via his X handle earlier today, urging Nigerians to rise in defence of the nation’s democratic system.

The protest which was peaceful saw ADC chieftains bearing banners with messages like – ‘Tinubu, Let Our Democracy Breathe’.

Leaders and members of the ADC, alongside other concerned citizens, were said to have organised the demonstration in response to what they described as growing threats to Nigeria’s democracy.

The ADC had of late been swamped in the murky mud of disunity and factionalisation over who in the eyes of the law, is the true leader and owner of the party.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stirred the confusion even further when it said it does not recognise David Mark faction as the authentic ADC.
