The Nigeria Police Force has recorded major operational successes across several states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), resulting in foiled kidnapping operations, the arrest of multiple crime suspects, and the recovery of firearms, stolen vehicles, and marine equipment.

According to an official briefing released on Wednesday, by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, CSP Ani Iniedu, the operations were spearheaded by tactical teams, joint security forces, and intelligence-led marine units across Akwa Ibom, Katsina, Delta, Kaduna, Ebonyi, Benue, Ekiti, Ogun, and the FCT.

Major Anti-Kidnapping and Security Breakthroughs
In Akwa Ibom State, police tactical teams and marine operatives acted on credible intelligence regarding a planned abduction along the Oron waterways on September 8. Operatives raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout at Mma Adiaha Creek, forcing the suspects to flee.

The raid yielded one English pump-action gun with two live cartridges, two speedboats, and four outboard engines.

Meanwhile, a joint team of police and military personnel in Katsina State repelled an ambush by suspected armed bandits along Kurami Road on September 7.

The security forces engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them into the bush. Operatives successfully rescued one victim unhurt, while another abducted individual subsequently made his way back home safely.

In Benue State, police tactical units restored public order along the Makurdi-Gboko Highway on September 8 following a communal disturbance. Operatives dismantled illegal road barricades and arrested three suspects to prevent further escalation.

Cracking Down on Cultism and Violent Crime
In Delta State, police operatives executed a targeted raid on a criminal gathering at Pleasure Bush Bar in Aragba-Orogun on September 7, apprehending eight suspected cultists.

A search conducted at a suspect’s residence led to the recovery of a pump-action gun, a live cartridge, and five mobile phones.

Delta State police also arrested a principal suspect in connection with the fatal assault of an 87-year-old woman, with active tracking underway to nab fleeing accomplices.

In Ebonyi State, police stormed a suspected criminal gathering in Kpirikpiri, Abakaliki, arresting one suspect and recovering a locally made pistol loaded with 9mm ammunition, along with a mobile phone belonging to a robbery victim.

In Ekiti State, police responded to a distress call regarding a stabbing incident at Oke Ureje in Ado-Ekiti, arresting two suspects and ensuring the injured victim received urgent medical treatment.

Interstate Stolen Vehicle Recoveries and Robbery Investigations
Police surveillance teams in the FCT intercepted an interstate car theft network, recovering a Hyundai saloon car stolen from Lagos State that was tracked to Lugbe. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle.

In Kaduna State, routine highway patrols along the Kaduna-Kachia Highway intercepted two suspicious vehicles, resulting in the arrest of two occupants and the impounding of the vehicles for further investigation.

Additionally, in Ogun State, detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, launched a tracking operation following an armed robbery where a motorcycle and mobile phones valued at ₦4.75 million were stolen.

CSP Iniedu confirmed that all cases have been handed over to the respective SCIDs across the state commands and Abuja for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
