Presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, and former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, said on Tuesday that the harassment of persons in his campaign team cannot dim his determination to be Nigeria’s president.

Obi was in Akwa Ibom in furtherance of his campaign and was welcomed by a mammoth crowd of party faithful and fans.

Obi who was responding to questions from  journalists at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa, Ibom State Council, said he was not demoralized by attempts to hunt down his party members and supporters.

In the case of the conviction of his Campaign Director-General, Mr. Doyin Okupe, over alleged money laundering, Obi said he remained resolute in his effort to bring Nigeria back from the brinks.

He said: “I am hearing about it(the conviction) just like you. I am still studying what is coming out of the courts and everything. I believe in the rule of law. It is not going to demoralise me.

“Today, when I arrived Akwa Ibom somebody asked me why I haven’t been using my aircraft because it has been grounded and all that and I said to him that nothing demoralises me.

He spoke on the wide spread corruption in the country and the perceived lack of structure of his party to win the presidential election.

“The structure they have today is the structure we want to destroy. It is the structure of criminality. It is structure that produced 133million people living in poverty, it is the structure that produced 20 million out-of- school children.

“It is the structure that has made Nigeria surpass India in infant mortality. It is the structure that will destroy Nigeria and we want to destroy that structure,” he said.

Obi maintained that redeeming Nigeria is achievable and that he and his team have the best credentials and pedigree to deliver on the job.
