PDP ticket: Kabiru Turaki storms Edo, gets more backing from Governors, Generals

Frontline PDP Presidential hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN,  has added Edo State to his list of about 30 states he has visited in a rare nationwide consultation and campaign to fly the flag of his party in 2019 Presidential election.

He arrived Benin, the capital of Edo State Monday, August 27, to meet with the State chapter of the party where he was warmly received.

The historic visit, according to his media team, in a statement is part of Turaki’s on-going consultations with state executive committees, elders, other party leaders and delegates to the forthcoming PDP National Convention.

Political Economist gathered that Turaki has garnered more support from some Generals who see his candidacy as shorn of any corruption baggage and a breath of fresh air to the party. Three South-South governors were also said to have endorsed the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

Turaki had earlier earned plaudits from members of the BOT of the PDP which inside sources said were impressed with his presentation and pedigree.

Cerebral and articulate Turaki, who hails from Kebbi State and unarguably the strongest contender from the North West region, has led his campaign team on consultation visits to not less than 30 states in the country.

He hopes to cover the 36 states of the federation and the FCT before the primary proper.

Interestingly, KTT as he is fondly called has been receiving endorsements from several leading lights in the PDP, who are all rooting for him as the preferred candidate at the forthcoming primary of the party.
