The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ughelli chapter in Delta State, Austin Icheghe, has been assassinated. Family sources said he was assassinated in front of his home late Thursday. The police also corroborated the story and the time of the incident.
Niece to the deceased, Egunor Uviesa, said the incident happened at about 9pm as the lawyer arrived from work and was alighting from his car.
He was accosted and shot in the head by the unknown assassins. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the town but he did not survive as he was confirmed dead at the hospital.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, said the Police was investigating the incident.
As at press time, no clue had emerged as to why he was brutally murdered.
