N6.5m spent to renovate Olubadan Stadium Hostel – IFA boss

Rotimi Alli, Chairman, Ibadan Football Association (IFA), says the association has completed the renovation work on the 20-room hostel at Olubadan Stadium in Ibadan.

Alli told newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan that renovation work on the facility, which commenced in 2020, gulped N6.5 million.

The renovation work on the derelict facility was the first since the hostel was built in 1975.

Alli said that the hostel was renovated to complement the ongoing reconstruction works at the stadium being undertaken by Gov. Seyi Makinde’s administration.

Alli listed some works done on the facility known as “Ayo Adeniji Hostel” to include painting of the two floors, complete re-wiring of the building, light fittings and floor tiling of the 20 rooms.

He said that wardrobes and beddings were provided in each room with constant water supply, while the bathroom and toilet facilities were completely overhauled.

The IFA boss said that plasma television, ceiling fans and new doors were supplied to each room, while security guards were employed for safety of guests and their property.

He said that the facility would basically be available to club sides for camping purposes with overall development of sports as its goal.

Alli said the newly renovated facility had started recording patronage, adding that a football club from Kaduna State had booked the rooms for two weeks, but left due to Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

He expressed his board’s determination to leave the stadium better than they met it, pledging that the 2021 IFA League would be bigger than the last edition. (NAN)
