Sustained military offensives and the systematic disruption of supply routes by troops of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have triggered a dramatic 213 per cent surge in surrenders by terrorist fighters and their associates over the past week.
The sharp rise highlights the eroding morale, internal fractures, and dwindling operational capacity of terrorist elements operating across the North East theatre, the army said in a statement on Thursday.

Massive Surge: Terrorist surrenders jumped by 213% compared to the previous week following aggressive ground operations, precision strikes, and logistics interdictions.
High-Profile Defections: Two senior terrorist figures surrendered directly to troops, turning over an assortment of arms, ammunition, and military hardware.
Internal Fractures in Bama: On August 7, 2026, a group of fighters surrendered to the 202 Battalion at New Abaram, driven by unrelenting military pressure and growing internal conflict within the terrorist enclaves. Mobile phones and other equipment were recovered during initial screening.

According to the Theatre Command, the recent influx of surrenders is not a series of isolated events, but rather the cumulative effect of a multi-dimensional military strategy.
