The Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment in a bid to promote and sustain entrepreneurship and employment has flagged off a free soft skills training and job interview programme for 500 unemployed youths in the State.

Speaking at the training, held in collaboration with Jobberman at Marquee Hall, Eko FM, Ikeja, on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Wealth Creation & Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, said the programme was aimed at empowering youths with soft skills as well as preparing them for different job interviews.

“With this training programme, participants will be able to develop a better understanding of their strengths, skills and key selling points to tackle interviews with confidence. It would put the trainees in a vantage position to understand different types of interviews, ranging from telephone and video to non-standard interviews and how best to tackle them”.

“The programme would also enable the attendees to have a grasp of employability and negotiation skills. They will gain insight on how to write a good CV and Cover Letter as well as learn more about interview preparation tips, job search strategies and salary negotiation tips among others”.

The Commissioner commended Jobberman for complementing the efforts of the present administration in training youths on employability soft skills, job interviews and challenges of unemployment in the State.

While calling on other private organisations to emulate Jobberman’s humanitarian gesture, Arobieke reiterated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s quest to enhance leadership and employability skills of youths as well as connect them with professionals to help shorten the learning curve through effective partnership with the private sector.
