The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, has recovered more than N1.150 billion cash of movable and immovable properties between 2015 and 2016.
Malam Muhuyi Rimingado, the Executive Chairman, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja.
Rimingado said the commission has recovered several moveable and immovable property located in different parts of the state, adding that many individuals were under investigation by the commission.
He said, the commission was investigating a land situated at Dotsa village that worth a billion Naira and more than 60 plots at Riga Fada Village worth N365.7 million.
According to him, the commission has received more than 1,486 complaints this year on different aspects of life that involves corruption, contractual and marital disputes.
“From its inception in April 2005 to date, a period of 11-years, the Commission has received over 7,000 complaints and petitions.
“Comparative statistics shows recorded cases numbering 166 in 2005; 534 in 2006; 557 in 2007; 655 in 2008; 741 in 2009, 591 in 2010, 422 in 2011 to December 2013.
“The Commission only received 517 complaints and petitions, with no tentative figure from 2014 to 2015, but from August 2015 to date the Commission received over 3,300 complaints and petitions,’’ he said.
The chairman said that the commission had concluded plans to train 200 personnel at the ICPC Academy to boost its performance.
He added that training and re-training of staff would be continuous to enhance productivity in service.
He said that staff discipline was improved and the commission was able to employ over 120 staff for strengthening its activities in the state.
Besides, he said the commission was first to introduce electronic attendance machine in the state to control lateness and enhance performance.
Rimingado said the commission was collaboration with the federal anti-graft outfits to complement the national war on corruption.
NAN recalls that Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State had earlier called on his colleagues to replicate the Kano model of Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission to assist the Federal Government in the war against corruption.
The governor explained that the fight against corruption was the cardinal principle of the Kano State Government under his administration.
Ganduje disclosed that since 2015 when the administration came into power, it had done everything possible to reorganise the commission through the provision of vibrant leadership and non-interference policy
