Jonathan Angry with Okupe over BringBackGoodluck2015 Campaign Signage

Admin September 10, 2014

bring back goodluckPresident Goodluck Jonathan is angry, very angry, and his anger is directed at his spokesman, Doyin Okupe, said to be the mastermind of what the president considered an insensitive campaign signage with the message “BringBackGoodluck2015’ now dotting the nooks and crannies of Abuja. Consequently the president has ordered the campaigners to remove all such signage.

President Jonathan in a statement issued Wednesday, by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati said he “wholly shares the widely expressed view that the signs which were put up without his knowledge or approval are a highly insensitive parody of the #Bring Back Our Girls hash tag”.

Dr. Abati said while Mr. President appreciated the enthusiastic show of support for his administration  by a broad range of stakeholders, he however condemned the #Bring Back Jonathan 2015 signs which he viewed trivialized the very serious national and global concern for the over 200 abducted Chibok secondary school  girls.

In the meantime, the President has assured Nigerians and the international community that his administration remained fully engaged with efforts to rescue the abducted girls and he would not consciously  “promote any action that will fly in the face of the seriousness of their plight and the anguish of their families”.

The North Central zone of campaign/rally by one of the groups – Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), pushing for President Jonathan’s second term in office is slated for this Saturday, September 13, 2014
