Policemen killed by gunmen

After several months of relative peace, gunmen have returned to Owerri, Imo state capital, killing four policemen  and a lady said to be a PoS (Point of Sale) operator in Irete community along Onitsha Road.

Witnesses said the gunmen attacked the policemen who were on stop-and-search duty in the area. The policemen were taken unawares as the gunmen arrived at the checkpoint and fired at the cops. A PoS operator was also killed in the ambush as gunshots shattered the peace of the area.

Police spokesman in the state Henry Okoye confirmed the incident, stressing that four policemen were killed and not six earlier reported in social media.
