Help, EFCC, NDLEA are harassing me; Patience Jonathan cries to Reps for protection

Admin July 7, 2017

The immediate past First Lady, Patience Jonathan, on Thursday cried out against alleged persistent harassment of her family by security agencies. She sought the intervention of the House of Representatives in a petition addressed to the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara. She pleaded with the Federal Government to call the security agencies to order.

The petition was presented to the House at plenary by the lawmaker representing Okrika Constituency of Rivers, Rep. Bright Tamuno.

Tamuno called on the House to consider the matter in view of the sacrifices and contributions her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, made for the advancement of democracy and the country.

He noted that no former wife of Nigerian President had been harassed like this before, and in view of the sacrifices her husband has made for the country, the house should consider and call the security agencies to order.

Patience, in the petition, alleged that the harassment was being orchestrated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and other agencies of the Federal Government.

However, Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, referred the petition to the Committee on Public Petitions for further legislative action.
