Eight Months in Office, Buhari Goes on Vacation, Osinbajo to Act

Admin February 5, 2016

Buhari-osBarely eight months in office, President Muhammadu Buhari has begun a short vacation, the Presidency announced Friday. A letter to this effect had been despatched to the National Assembly in a show of democratic ideals.

The president will be on a short holiday from February 5 to February 10, 2016.

During his absence, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will perform the functions of the president, a statement signed by presidential spokesperson, Femic Adesina, said.

“In compliance with Section 145 (1) of the Nigerian Constitution, President Buhari has dispatched a formal notice of his vacation to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” the statement said.

No reason was given for the vacation.
