Admin December 27, 2015

killed by a copThe quality and character of persons enlisted into the nation’s security apparatchik was again called to questioning on Boxing Day when a drunk police sergeant shot and killed three persons and later took his own life. The incident which happened at Ketu area of Lagos mainland caused panic in the vicinity as neighbourhood people and fun-seekers ran for their lives.

Police authorities have confirmed the incident. Preliminary investigation showed that the cop was heavily drunk and was involved in altercation with some persons at the hotel shortly before pulling the trigger.

The deceased cop who was identified as Sergeant Stephen James reportedly shot three persons pointblank with whom he had engaged in an argument at Paulson Hotel on Anibaba Street in Ketu, Lagos.

Police spokesman assistant superintendent of police Joe Offor confirmed the incident. He said the police man shot and killed three persons after taking so much alcohol which is against the law. The incident is not new among the police. In the past on several occasions, heavily intoxicated cops had been known to pull the trigger at innocent, unarmed civilians, sometimes over as little as N50 bribe.
