A 33-year-old driver, Genesis Odey, was on Thursday in a Wuse Zone II Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, arraigned for allegedly attempting to abduct his boss.

The police charged Odey, of behind Dunamis Church, New Karu, Nasarawa State for attempt to abduct his employer, Mr Michael Numa, upon his arrival in Nigeria from UK.

Odey was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on attempting to committ offence and abduction.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Edwin Inegbenoise, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 11, 2022.

He said that the matter was reported at the Mabushi Police Station, Abuja on Oct. 16, 2023 by the nominal complainant, Numa of N0. 44 Contess Court Estate, Mabushi.

He said that Odey had a discussion with Innocent at AWEED Hotel, in One Man Village, Karu, Nassarawa, on the alleged plot of abduction.

The prosecutor further said that the aim of the plot was to get a large sum of money from the complainant out of the money he had been paid from a case he prosecuted in Delta.

Inegbenoise further said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 93 and 274 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Huzaifa Maccido ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Keffi Correctional Centre.

He adjourned the case until March 15 for mention. (NAN)
