Court remands 15-year old over alleged defilement of 3-year-old girl in Ekiti

An Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 15-year-old boy, at the Ekiti State Children Correctional Centre, for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl.

The minor, whose house address was not given, is being tried on a one-count charge of sexual assault to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olufumike Anoma, ordered tne remand of the suspect at the state children correctional centre and adjourned the case until July 6, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Monica Okebuilo, said the the defendant committed the offence on May 30 in Ido Ekiti Local Government area of the state.

Okebuilo told the court that the offence contravened Section 1(4)(1) and was punishable under Section 2(b) of the Gender Based Violence Prohibition Laws of Ekiti State, 2019. (NAN)
