Classy Chelsea stun City 3-1 to keep EPL top spot

Admin December 3, 2016

willian-goalNigeria’s Victor Moses was on duty Saturday when classy Chelsea shocked  Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium 3-1 to keep its top spot at the log of the English Premier League.

City scored first, thanks to Gary Cahill putting Jesus Navas cross through his own net just before break. And City would have doubled the scoreline but for Kevin de Bruyne shot hitting the  crossbar.

But it was Chelsea that came smoking in the second half, dominating possession and mounting a lot of pressure on the hosts.

The efforts soon paid off with Diego Costa netting the equaliser and Willian and  Eden Hazard putting the game out of reach for City.

The victory was Chelsea’s eighth league win in a row and puts them four points clear of Liverpool in second and City in third.

For Manchester City, it was a loss compounded by the red carding of striker Aguero and midfielder Fernandinho.

They were sent off following  a bust-up after a very late knee-high Aguero challenge on David Luiz.   Chalobah then came over to defend Luiz, who shoved Aguero.

Fernandinho lost his head and reacted by pushing Fabregas over the sponsor boards. But in contrast the two coaches, Chelsea’s Antonio Conte and City’s Pep Guardiola shook hands at the end of the game.
