The Police Command in Lagos State has apprehended a 21-year-old suspected armed robber found in possession of a suspected human hand, firearms and other weapons.

The police apprehended the suspect during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

Adebisi said that police operatives intercepted an unregistered commercial shuttle bus conveying six occupants, during which one of the passengers was arrested.

She said a search on the vehicle and its occupants led to recovery of the suspected human right hand, two locally-made pistols, one live cartridge and two axes.

Adebisi said that the police also recovered one Point of Sale (PoS) machine and five Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards from the suspect.

The spokesperson said that the suspect confessed to recently robbing three persons of their belongings, including the recovered PoS machine and ATM cards.

According to her, efforts are ongoing to identify and contact the victims for the return of the recovered property.

“Investigation is also ongoing to ascertain the identity of the owner of the recovered suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession and its intended use.

“Efforts are being intensified to identify and apprehend other criminal associates linked to the suspect.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” she said.

Adebisi said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Tijani, reassured Lagos residents of the command’s commitment to combating crimes across the state.

She urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to the police to support crime prevention and public safety.

“For emergency and information sharing, call: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929,” she said.
