The Taraba State governorship election petition tribunal has declared Senator Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the April 11 Governorship election in the state thus nullifying the victory and governorship of Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Aisha, a ministerial-designate, who is popularly called Mama Taraba, had filed a petition at the tribunal challenging INEC’s declaration of Ishaku as winner of that election. She prayed the tribunal to instead declare her winner having scored the highest number of lawful votes.
The tribunal sitting in Abuja under the Chairmanship of Justice Musa Abubakar gave the ruling Saturday afternoon. The verdict brought back memories of the April 11, 2015 in which the Mama Taraba was declared winner on social media and online portals ahead of the declaration by INEC of Ishaku as the winner.
