Anioma Media Professionals congratulates Okowa on multiple awards

Anioma Media Professionals (AMP), a pan-Anioma development advocacy group of media professionals from Delta North senatorial district of Delta State has congratulated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on the multiple awards he has garnered in recent weeks.

In a statement issued by the group and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ken Ugbechie, the AMP said the awards are clear manifestation of the lofty achievements of the governor in Delta State which earned him the support and confidence of the group.

Okowa had earlier been honoured with the African Leadership Grassroots and People’s Development Award. In the coming weeks, the governor would be mounting the dais to be decorated with Daily Independent Man of the Year Award 2018; Vanguard Governor of the Year Award; and Silverbird  2018 Man of the Year Award. These awards rack up the governor’s trophy cabinet which included the Mandela Medals of Human Rights Award 2016; the UI Alumni of the Year Award 2016; and the UNN Dignity of Man Award 2017 among others.

The statement reads inter alia: “We wish to congratulate you on the multiple awards being conferred on you by different media houses and agencies for the year 2018. It is a justification of the confidence we repose in you and a testimony to our long held belief that as governor of Delta State, you have acquitted yourself as a genuine development-centric leader whose values transcend the mundane lines of ethnicity and bitter politics.

“The awards also justify our support for your candidacy since 2014 when you emerged the flagbearer for the governorship election of your party, the PDP. Looking back today, we are convinced that we made the right choice in supporting you and we are further convinced that you deserve another term of four years to consolidate the gains of democracy which you have bequeathed to your people especially in the area of peace and security, infrastructure, job creation, youth empowerment and human capital development.

“While we congratulate you on these milestones, we make haste to remind you that this calls for commitment from you and your team to sustain the high development standard you have set in the state.

“We particularly wish to thank you for your exemplary leadership which has translated to peace and security in oil-rich Delta. We note that the sustained peace in the state is responsible for the increased production in crude oil and its attendant increased revenue to the Federation Account.

“We urge you to stay the course and maintain the momentum of infrastructural and sports development which has in recent months resulted in sporting excellence for Delta State in national and international competitions.”
