AGF to Institute Award for Best Graduating Student in Accounting

Admin May 18, 2017

Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has pledged his desire to work with the  Head, Department of Accounting, Gombe State University, Gombe, to institute an academic award that will reward excellence in the field  of  Accounting at the University.

Mr. Ahmed Idris gave this promise  in Abuja while receiving members of the Association of the Accounting Students of Gombe State University, led by their President, Lawal Ishiaku, who were at the Treasury House on an Education tour.

The AGF commended the Students for taking the initiative to visit  the Treasury House to familiarize themselves with theories and practice of public sector accounting, and encouraged them to work hard to pass their exams with good grades and good character so as to justify the sacrifices being made by their parents to send them to school.

He  identified corruption as the major problem bedeviling the nation and urged them to support the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration’s  campaign against corruption by eschewing all forms of corruption and vice and becoming vanguards of good morals.

Mr. Idris further encouraged the students to engage themselves in other meaningful activities that will add value to the society but more particularly on the preservation of the  campus environment.

The AGF later presented the Students with the portraits of President Muhammadu Buhari’s famous speech “if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria.”

Speaking earlier, President of the Association, Ishaiku Lawal, expressed his appreciation to the Accountant-General of the Federation and his management team for granting their request for the educational tour.

He said that the Association decided to come to the Office of the Accountant-General  to broaden their knowledge and experience on the on-going reforms  in public finance management being implemented by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

Mr. Lawal further commended the Accountant-General of the Federation for success recorded in implementing these reforms.
