A 40-year-old man, Idris Ayooade, was on Monday docked at an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly failing to prevent hoodlums from entering a hotel.

The police charged Ayooade, who pleaded not guilty, with failure to prevent felony.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olusegun Adegboye, told the court that the defendant had on Nov. 28, 2021, at about 4. 00 a.m., at Bright Pearl Hotel, Oremeji, Ibadan, while working as a night security guard, failed to prevent felony.

Adegboye alleged that Ayooade willfully allowed some unknown hoodlums to break into the aforementioned hotel and dispossessed people of different phones, huge sums of money and other valuables.

He said that the offence was punishable under Section 515 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate O. A. Enilolobo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.

The magistrate ordered that the surety must be a blood relation of the defendant.

She adjourned the case until April 1 for hearing. (NAN)
