Yahaya Bello
The former governor of Kogi, Mr Yahaya Bello has urged traditional rulers in the state to continue fostering peace and unity within their domains while offering unwavering support to Gov. Ahmed Ododo.
Bello made the call on Thursday, when he hosted the Kogi Central Traditional Council of Chiefs at his residence in Okene.
The delegation was led by the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and Vice Chairman of the Kogi State Traditional Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Tijani Ahmed-Anaje and the Ejeh Ankpa, His Royal Highness, Abubakar Yakubu.
The former governor further tasked the traditional rulers to remain steadfast in their prayers for President Bola Tinubu, Ododo, and all those in positions of authority and leadership.
Bello noted that peace and unity remained the bedrock of meaningful development in any society, and urged the people to live in harmony and work collectively for the progress and prosperity of the land.
According to him, the cooperation of traditional rulers and their communities is essential in maintaining stability and ensuring sustainable growth in Kogi.
“This is because prayers and spiritual backing from traditional institutions are crucial in guiding leaders toward making decisions that benefit the people.
“More so, the pivotal role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace and unity within their communities is crucial and very necessary.
“This is the reason why I remain grateful to you for your continued support and solidarity throughout my tenure as governor of this state.
“Therefore, I again, urge you to extend the same support to Ododo, particularly as the state moves forward under his leadership, ” he stated.
Earlier, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, said that the visit was to specially welcome Bello back home.
Ahmed-Anaje described Bello as a man of impeccable character and a true son of Ebiraland.
He reaffirmed the traditional institution’s unwavering support for both state and federal leaderships, emphasising their commitment to ensuring stability and progress across Kogi.
Also speaking, the Ohi of Adayi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammed Bello, commended Bello’s achievements during his eight-year tenure as Kogi governor.
He said: “Every leader faces challenges during and after their time in office, as tests from God.
“Therefore, I encourage you to remain resilient and positive, seeing these challenges as stepping stones for greater political accomplishments in the future.”
