Mr. Godwin Emefiele, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was released last night by the Department of State Services,  DSS, but was immediately arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The DSS has held Emefiele for weeks but his arrest and detention by the secret police has drawn outrage from the public who questioned why he should be arrested by the DSS instead of the EFCC or the ICPC.

It believed that Emefiele’s file has been transferred to the EFCC for further investigation and prosecution.
