The Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, has rated Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo high on performance within 100 days in office.

The Coalition stated this on Wednesday in Abuja, at a colloquium tagged “Tracking Governor Monday Okpebholo’s 100 Days in Office”.

In his remarks the convener of the event and Country Director of the coalition, Mr John Mayaki, said that the coalition commenced tracking of 100 days in office performance of any governor elected in the state eight years ago.

Mayaki said it was therefore not a first, as a similar event was organised by the coalition and held in Lagos, when former Gov Godwin Obaseki was on board.

He said that the coalition in tracking the performance of Okpebholo 100 days in office discovered that the governor had delivered both tangible and intangible deliverables to the people of the state.

According to him, the governor has delivered more than 100 dividends of democracy to the residents of Edo and he is keeping fate with his electioneering campaign promises.

He noted that the coalition discovered that the governor had banned market unions that arbitrarily fix exorbitant prices for goods and food items, leading to a drastic reduction in food prices across the state.

“He has also upgraded the Information and Communication Technology and other infrastructure at the state-owned Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).

“He also signed an Executive Order on Dec. 31, 2025, for the Establishment, Adoption, and Implementation of the Principles of Framework for responsible and inclusive land-intensive agricultural investments.

“He procured two units of 150 KVA Perkins Generators for EBS, as well as high-end digital equipment such as high-performance Macs, Broadcasting and Streaming Software, Professional Quadcopter Drone with 4K UHD Video Camera, and 10 kVA Generators.

“He approved the establishment of the State Road Fund (SRF) and Rural Access Road Agency (RARA), requirements under the FRILIA RAAMP programme, qualifying Edo to access the $500 million World Bank grant for Rural Agricultural Development.

“He increased the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security from N5.9 billion in 2024 to over N70 billion, marking an 86 per cent increase,” he said.

Mayaki disclosed that other areas the coalition discovered Okpebholo to have delivered on dividend of democracy within 100 days in office were the education sector, infrastructure development, healthcare and security.

According to him, in the security sector the governor declared war on various cult groups in the state, leading to a drastic reduction in cult related killings.

“He procured 75 Hilux vehicles and 1000 high performance motorcycles for security operations, bush combing and tactical pursuit of kidnappers and other criminals.

“He not only also constituted a Public Safety Response Team to assist security agencies in enforcing safety measures and maintaining public order, he reconstituted the Edo Security Corps.

“He also revalidated its members and an illegal army operation, leading to the recovery of more than 5000 illegal firearms.

“Indeed Okpebholo has delivered excellently on governance in his 100 days in office and the coalition rates him very high.” (NAN)
