A mixed-race woman who fired shots at the Dallas Love Field Airport late Monday morning has been identified as 37-year-old Portia Odufuwa. She is said to have Nigerian connection because of her name, Odufuwa, a name native to Yoruba people of South West Nigeria.

Allegedly she’d found out her husband was cheating on her, said the Police. A bystander supposedly heard her raging about her cheating husband while firing shots at ceiling at the airport.

Dallas Chief of Police Eddie Garcia said the woman was dropped off at the airport just before 11am. Once inside the airport, she went into a restroom and changed clothes. Minutes later, she got out of the washroom wearing a hoody. She then pulled out a gun and started firing several shots, most of which appeared to be directed toward the ceiling.

“At this point, we don’t know where exactly the individual was aiming. From what we are seeing she was aiming at the ceiling,” Garcia said. ” There are several rounds that were found.”

Police then confronted her and shot her in her lower extremities. She was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in an unknown condition. No one else was injured in the incident.

Colby James, one of the witnesses told NBC 5, that the woman said something about her husband cheating before opening fire.

“She basically said her announcement, talking about her husband was cheating or something. And she basically said she was about to blow this sucker up. After she said that she pulled out a gun. She fired the first shot in the air and basically, everybody scattered. We were running. There were 10-12 more shots after that,” he told NBC 5.

The motive behind the shooting was not known. It was also unclear who dropped her off at the airport.

According to reports, Portia Odufuwa has lengthy criminal record, including a prostitution charge from 2006. She was also previously arrested for bank robbery.
