Uninterruptible power: Vertiv, TD cement partnership for African Market

Do you have worries over unstable electricity? Worry no more! Vertiv, formerly Emerson Network Power, has further cemented its partnership with West Africa’s foremost Information and Communication Technology (ICT) distributors, Technology Distributions Ltd. (TD). The partnership which has been described as a strategic move leveraging on the strength of TD’s turn-key support capabilities and understanding of their customer’s needs is structured to meet the power needs of businesses and families in Africa.

Under the partnership, TD will deliver Vertiv’s uninterruptible power systems (UPS), power distribution units (PDU), racks and accessories, coupled with an unprecedented level of specialist consultancy and after-sales support within the region.

Wojtek Piorko, Regional Sales Director, North West Africa, Vertiv, states “Our mission is to help customers achieve a world where critical technologies always work. The alliance with TD will further strengthen our position in the Nigerian market, enabling us to focus like a laser on the needs of our customers. The choice to partner with TD was based on their strong foundation, regional footprint, financial capabilities, and passionate employees. Together our customers will feel secure they have the leading global UPS technology with local expertise and support of a veteran in the ICT Industry such as TD.”

The well-attended event which held at the Kez Auditorium in TD’s headquarters in Gbagada, Lagos attracted key channel partners, resellers and other stakeholders in the ICT ecosystem.

According to Wojtek: “TD has a solid footprint across Africa, with access to thousands of partners and a strong reseller network. The partnership was formed out of mutual trust, communication and respect which build a strong foundation from which we can better serve our customers. Vertiv has a deep understanding of infrastructure solutions to cater for modern data centres, communication networks and commercial and industrial facilities.

“Considering our ongoing footprint expansion into Africa, we are confident that this partnership with TD will undoubtedly accelerate the rate of customer’s access to the wide range of cutting-edge products and solutions that Vertiv is globally renowned for,” he stated.

“Vertiv off­ers unsurpassed global and broad expertise with facilities and staff located across five continents. The company will continue to meet the specific demands of the Nigerian market, its resellers and end-users through their distributors such as TD. Being this new agile company and through partnerships, we can adapt quicker to the changing market needs and address our resellers and their customers like never before.”

In her welcome address, Coordinating Managing Director, TD, Mrs. Chioma Chimere highlighted some key challenges confronting individuals and businesses in Nigeria, especially the erratic nature of power supply. She further encouraged participants to take advantage of Vertiv products and services, while assuring them of guaranteed maximum protection and TD’s support.

On the essence of the partnership, Group Executive Director, TD, Mr. Stanley Okpalaeke affirmed that TD holds its partners in high esteem and will never hesitate to go the extra mile for them. He explained that as the largest provider of credit in the ICT sector, the company’s relationship with its over 3,500 partners is secure and firm. Noting that TD is not only the largest ICT distributor in Nigeria but with regional distribution channels and hubs in three continents as well as in Dubai and the UK, Okpalaeke disclosed that TD possesses the capacity to fully support Vertiv as it continues to grow into the African market.

During his presentation, Okpalaeke gave additional reasons why channel partners would always bank on their relationship with TD. With such quality features as deep channel engagement, reseller incentives/enablement programs, product and services after sales support, trainings, strategic end-user engagement, understanding of the market, large fleet of trucks/advanced logistics, long-term agreement with DHL, best pricing system, quick turnaround time, credit offers, stock availability, wide coverage, large warehouses in Nigeria and Ghana among others, he noted that TD remains the distributor of choice in the West African sub-region.

During the launch event, Vertiv explained the many benefits of its offering and the company’s unique value propositions such as global leadership, very competitive commercial terms including two to five years’ warranty packages for selected products,  partnership program reward levels and incentive trips for best performing resellers.

Further adding spice to the event was the testimonials of a few partners who attested to the quality and reliability of products and services from Vertiv, formerly Emerson Network Power. Among these were Jude Oriakhi of Blissnery Limited, Lekan Faola of Task Systems Limited and Nnenna Nnachi of Weco Limited, all of whom confessed to the company’s cable management capacity, reliability, availability, better pricing, durability and after-sales support availability.

The event also witnessed a raffle draw which saw four attendees go home with Vertiv Liebert® UPS, courtesy of the vendor.
