Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Inter Milan are in the group of death (Group C) in the 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League with only minnow being Viktoria Plzen.

This is even as Real Madrid and France strike Karim Benzema has emerged European Footballer of the Year. Benzema scored 15 goals and delivered 1 assist in the 12 matches he played for Madrid during the 2021-2022 edition of the Champions League. The French attacker was the best player on the team who conquered the European title. His choice was overwhelming.

Barcelona and Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas was voted the 2020/21 UEFA Women’s Player of the Year award. Putellas, who lifted the UEFA Women’s Champions League trophy in May as Barcelona captain, finished ahead of club-mates Jenni Hermoso, also a Spain player, and Lieke Martens, the 2016/17 winner, in the voting, conducted by a panel of leading coaches and journalists.
