Troops of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Operation MESA, have rescued a kidnapped victim, killed two suspected abductors, and successfully recovered ₦10 million in ransom money during a joint operation in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The operation was confirmed on Saturday in a statement released in Kano by Major Babatunde Zubairu, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 3 Brigade.

According to the statement, the rescue followed the abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu on October 11 at Fanyabo Village in Falgore Forest. Aliyu was intercepted by armed men at approximately midnight while returning from Yandoka Market in neighbouring Kaduna State.
Following the abduction, the gang contacted the victim’s family in Yan Taburmi to demand a ransom for his release. Acting on credible intelligence, troops launched an ambush in close collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local hunters.
During the tactical engagement, security forces neutralised two of the suspected kidnappers, forcing remaining gang members to flee deep into the dense terrain of Falgore Forest.
A subsequent search of the scene yielded the recovery of the ₦10 million paid by the family as ransom, which was promptly returned to the victim and his family following his rescue.
Reacting to the successful mission, Brigadier-General Saka Jimoh, Commander of the 3 Brigade, commended the joint force for their alertness, operational proficiency, and fighting spirit. He reiterated the Brigade’s resolve to sustain pressure on criminal syndicates and eliminate security threats across the region.
Brigadier-General Jimoh also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue supplying timely, actionable intelligence to security agencies to safeguard peace and security throughout Kano State.
