Troops on duty
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a massive, multi-directional assault launched by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Kukawa, Borno State, neutralizing over 25 insurgents in a fiery counter-offensive.

The operational success was disclosed in an official statement issued on Tuesday by Capt. Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force, North East.
According to Capt. Goni, the insurgents launched a coordinated attack against troops of the 101 Special Forces Battalion from four different directions. However, the ground forces bolstered by swift tactical support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing the remaining terrorists to flee in disarray.
Following the engagement, military personnel recovered six AK-47 rifles along with various arms and ammunition left behind by the fleeing fighters.
Enemy Losses: Preliminary assessments indicate over 25 terrorists were killed during the battle, with 14 bodies already recovered during initial battlefield clearance.
Fallen Heroes: Capt. Goni confirmed that some soldiers paid the supreme price during the fierce encounter, hailing them as gallant personnel who died in defense of the nation.
Ongoing Exploitation: Counter-terrorism units are currently carrying out mop-up operations and aggressive tracking in the surrounding terrain to flush out surviving terrorists and prevent regrouping.
The Nigerian Army extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen personnel, reiterating that the sacrifice of its troops would not be in vain.
Capt. Goni stressed that the successful repulsion of the multi-directional attack underscores the high state of combat readiness, joint air-ground synergy, and operational resilience maintained by troops across the North-East theatre. He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-led offensives alongside sister security agencies until terrorist networks across the region are fully dismantled.
