Troops
Troops of the Nigerian Army have dismantled a suspected kidnappers’ camp and recovered 1,000 rounds of live ammunition following a tactical raid on Edimogbo Forest in Kogi State.

The successful raid was conducted on Monday by troops of the 21 Battalion, Quick Reaction Force (QRF), operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, according to an official operational report released on Monday.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of an armed kidnapping syndicate in the area, troops mobilised to the location through an operational axis covering Ejule, Alloma, and Ofabo communities.
Upon sighting the advancing military unit, the criminal elements fired a warning shot to alert fellow gang members before abandoning their position and fleeing into the dense forest terrain.
Army troops immediately pursued the fleeing suspects into the hideout. Although the suspects evaded initial capture, soldiers secured the area and proceeded to completely destroy the insurgents’ encampment.
Heavy Ammunition and Logistics Seized
During the search and clearance of the camp, troops recovered a massive cache of high-caliber ammunition and operational supplies, including:
1,000 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammunition
7 bandoliers
6 Daylong motorcycles
1 mobile phone and 1 Glo modem
2 shovels, 1 hand pump, and a jerrycan of petrol
Personal items, including shoes, clothing, and toiletries
According to the report, troops expended 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the engagement.
Exploitation of the surrounding forest area is currently ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
