Mixed reactions have continued to trail President Bola Tinubu’s allocation of portfolios to the new ministers and the creation of no fewer than six new ministries to accommodate his bloated cabinet.
The new ministries are: Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy (distinct from Transportation); Ministry of Tourism; Ministry of Youth (separate from Sports Development); Ministry of Gas Resources (separate from Petroleum Resources); Ministry of Art, Culture and Creative Economy (separate from Information) and Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
While some Nigerians commended Tinubu for allocating Finance, Health, FCT, Works, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Innovation Science and Technology to the right persons, others argued that Defence, Budget and Economic Planning etc were not properly assigned.
Mr Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, had unveiled the new ministers’ portfolios while briefing State House Correspondents in Abuja, Wednesday.
He said that the swearing in is expected by next week after the retreat by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
