Six people have been confirmed dead after a lightning strike hit a farm in the Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The Adamawa State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Monday in Yola.

According to Nguroje, the tragedy occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday during a heavy rainfall in Dadiri-Tirigali village.

Following an emergency report received from the Ganye Divisional Headquarters, police personnel were immediately deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency responders found nine victims lying unconscious on the ground.

Medical personnel subsequently confirmed six of the victims dead, while the remaining three have since regained consciousness.
