As the newly appointed Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Dr. Aminu Maida marks his 100 days in office, he says moving forward his administration will approach the next couple of years with a focus on four key areas (collaboration, data centric, compliance and digitisation) to drive both the digital economy and telecoms industry.

Maida said this in a Special Presentation of his Vision and Strategy to the media in Lagos on Thursday.

According to him, his first 100 days was a time for reflection, collaborations and engagement with key stakeholders as “we move into the next phase of the telecoms industry and begin my own administration”.

Emphasising the need to grow the industry by growing the GDP in absolute terms, he said his policy direction is being driven by the blueprint of the minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

“We want to improve the resilience of the industry by reviewing the operating standards and also in the area of corporate governance and review some of our internal processes, so that our turnaround time and regulatory services will be great improved.”

He noted that the needs of the 3 major stakeholders (telecoms consumer, licensees, investors and government) in the industry.

“We’ll be driving the total quality of experience of the consumers by leveraging on data to empower consumers to make the right choice.

He however expressed his appreciation to the media for being a worthy partner in the growth of the industry, while asking the media to keep the commission in check.
