No fewer than 21 persons were feared dead and several others injured at Dakasoye village, Garun Mallam local government area of Kano, Friday, when a suicide bomber hit Shia procession on their way to Zaria.
A witness said the bombers chose to attack a soft target of Muslim faithful who were on a harmless procession on a holy day. “The impact was much and many people died instantly. I cannot tell the figure but I also saw many others injured, crying for help. The other people who were not affected ran away in different directions”, the witness said.
The incident occurred about 2.10 pm.
Just before the explosion, a middle aged man was caught with Improvised Explosive Device, meaning there could be more bombers in the neighbourhood.
