SON issues MANCAP certificates to 32 companies in Anambra

The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has issued Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificate of 104 products to 32 companies operating in Anambra.

The certificate issuance ceremony was held at the Anambra regional office of the organisation in Awka on Thursday.

In his address, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, the Director General, Chief Executive Officer of SON, said the event was a celebration of the commitment of Nigeria manufacturers towards meeting and exceeding quality standards for industrial growth and consumer confidence.

Okeke, who was represented by Mr. Gabriel Agafie, the Director in charge of Anambra Regional Office, said that standard was important as it was the backbone of sustainable industrialisation and economic development.

He said MANCAP ensured that all locally manufactured products complied with Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS) before they were introduced into the market.

According to him, by doing so, MANCAP protects consumers, fosters fair competition, and reinforces the integrity of our manufacturing sector.

“Today, we celebrate the achievements of 32 companies with 104 product brands under the MANCAP, two companies under the Product Identification Scheme, and 29 companies with 67 products registered through the E-Products registration platform.

“These recognitions represent more than certificates; they reflect dedication, compliance with standards, and a collective commitment to excellence, consumer safety, and sustainable development,” he said.

Okeke said the certification should be an inspiration to other businesses, a reminder that quality was not just a destination but a journey which required continuous improvement.

Earlier in his address, Mr. Fidelis Wariboko, the Coordinator, Anambra State Office 1, said he was proud to present the companies for certification because they successfully complied with MANCAP requirements.

Wariboko said the certification passed through rigorous inspection processes and commended them for meeting the approved Standards.

He appreciated the DG/CEO of SON for his commitment to strengthening standards enforcement and promoting quality culture across the country.

“We encourage all manufacturers to sustain compliance, maintain high production standards, and continually improve their processes,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the recipient companies, Arinze Ezeokoli, representing Dozztephan Industries, appreciated SON for its professionalism in ensuring that standard was maintained.

Ezeokoli said the company would continue to uphold the process that earned it the certification.

Also speaking, Mr. Chizoba Udegbunam, who represented Don Spring Water Ltd, said the approval had improved the company’s product confidence and acceptability in the market.

Udegbunam urged other local manufacturers to regularise their operations by subjecting them to standard processes. (NAN)
