Sokoto State Boat Mishap: 25  Rescued, 7 Motorcycles Recovered

Twenty-five passengers have been rescued and Seven Motorcycles recovered from the Boat mishap that occurred on Sunday in Goronyo, Sokoto State.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA and other relevant Agencies in collaboration with local divers have continued their search and rescue operations.

Authorities say they are suspecting overloading as a possible cause of the incident, renewing concerns over the safety of waterway transportation in Nigeria’s inland Communities.

On Sunday a Boat conveying more than fifty passengers, goods including nine motorcycles to Goronyo market capsized left many dead and several others still missing.
